Happy Sunday everyone! Today isn’t the day that I usually post, but I was just so excited to share this Santa Claus Crochet Pattern with you, I couldn’t wait.
I had a lot of fun designing this pattern, especially the bauble stitch detail on the beard. You’ll have just as much fun making it!

Materials Needed:
- Black worsted (4) weight yarn
- White worsted (4) weight yarn
- Natural worsted (4) weight yarn
- Red worsted (4) weight yarn
- A small amount of yellow worsted (4) weight yarn
- 4.00 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Stuffing
- 2 Safety Eyes
Terms Needed: Sc = single crochet, Sc2tog = single crochet 2 together, ss = slip stitch, ch = chain, st = stitch, mc = magic circle,
Santa Head:
Start with natural yarn.
Row 1: Ch 1. Sc 6 in mc. Ss. (6 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 2 in each st around. Ss. (12 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in each st around, sc) repeat around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in each st around, sc 2) repeat around. Ss. (24 sts)
Rows 5-7: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (24 sts)
Row 8: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc 2) repeat around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc) repeat around. Ss. (12 sts)
Stuff work and add safety eyes.
Row 10: Ch 1. Sc2tog around. Ss. (6 sts)
Santa Beard:
Start with white yarn.
Row 1: Ch 11, turn. In 3rd ch from hook, (* Yarn over, insert hook, pull up a loop, ss 2 loops* repeat 5 times in the same st. Pull a loop through all 6 of the loops on the hook, ch 2. Skip one stitch) repeat this pattern a total of 5 times to create 5 baubles.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Repeat bauble stitch pattern in each of the spaces between the baubles of the previous row to create 4 baubles. Bind off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew beard to head.
Santa Nose:
Start with natural yarn.
Row 1: Sc 4 in mc. Ss. (4 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (4 sts)
Bind off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew nose to face, just above beard.
Santa Eyebrows (make 2):
Start with white yarn.
Row 1: CH 3.
Bind off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew eyebrows to face, just above eyes.
Santa Hat:
Start with red yarn.
Row 1: Sc 4 in mc. Ss. (4 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) repeat to end of row. Ss. (6 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 2) repeat to end of row. Ss. (8 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 3) repeat to end of row. Ss. (10 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 4) repeat to end of row. Ss. (12 sts)
Row 6: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 5) repeat to end of row. Ss. (14 sts)
Row 7: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 6) repeat to end of row. Ss. (16 sts)
Row 8: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 7) repeat to end of row. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 8) repeat to end of row. Ss. (20 sts)
Row 10: Change to white yarn. Ch 1. In back loops of yarn, (Sc 2 in st, sc 9) repeat around. Ss. (22 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 10) repeat to end of row. Ss. (24 sts)
Bind off. Weave in ends.
Santa Hat Pompom:
Start with white yarn.
Row 1: Sc 5 in mc. Ss. (5 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 2 in each st around. Ss. (10 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (10 sts)
Stuff pompom.
Row 4: Ch 1. Sc2tog around. Ss. (5 sts)
Bind off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew to top of hat. Weave in all ends.
Santa Legs + Body:
Start with black yarn.
Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss. (6 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) repeat to end of row. Ss. (8 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (8 sts)
Row 4: Change to red yarn. Ch 1. Sc in front loop of each st around. Ss. (8 sts)
Bind off. Repeat rows 1-4 to create a 2nd piece. Do not bind off.
Row 5: Ch 1. Sc 4. Switch to 2nd piece, and Sc 8. Switch back to first piece and sc in remaining 4 sts. Ss to first st of row. (16 sts)
Row 6: Change to white yarn. In back loops of sts, (Sc 2 in st, sc 7) repeat to end of row. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 7: Change to red yarn. Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 8: Change to black yarn. In back loops of sts, sc in each st around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc 7) repeat to end of row. Ss. (16 sts)
Row 10: Change to red yarn. Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (16 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc 6) repeat to end of row. Ss. (14 sts)
Row 12: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (14 sts)
Row 13: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc 5) repeat to end of row. Ss. (12 sts)
Stuff work.
Row 14: Ch 1. Sc2tog around. Ss. (6 sts)
Bind off. Using yellow yarn, add a belt buckle detail.
Santa Arms (make 2):
Start with white yarn.
Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss. (6 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) repeat around. Ss. (8 sts)
Row 3: Change to red yarn. In front loops of sts, Ch 1, Sc2tog, then sc around the rest of the row. (7 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1, Sc2tog, then sc around the rest of the row. (6 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, Sc2tog, then sc around the rest of the row. (5 sts)
Stuff arm.
Row 6: Ch 1, Sc2tog, then sc around the rest of the row. (4 sts)
Bind off, leaving a tail for sewing. Sew arms to sides of body and sew head to top of body. Weave in all ends.
