Hi there! Today I am sharing a crochet pattern for Pickett the Bowtruckle from the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film franchise.
I ended up having to make Pickett a bit larger then life-size, because of his very thin arms and legs. However, he would be perfect for a Newt Scamander costume/cosplay or just a very cute collectible.

Anyway, here is the pattern:
Pickett Crochet Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Light Green (4) weight yarn
- Dark Green (4) weight yarn
- Dark brown worsted (4) weight yarn
- 4.00 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Stuffing
- 2 safety eyes
Terms Needed:
Terms Needed: Sc = single crochet, , ss = slip stitch, ch = chain, st = stitch, mc = magic circle, sc2tog = single crochet 2 together, HDC = half double crochet, DC = double crochet
For Head + Body (Main piece):
Start with light green yarn.
Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss to first st. (6 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 2 in each st around. (12 sts)
Rows 3-7: Ch 1. Sc around, ss to first st. (12 sts)
Insert safety eyes, then stuff work so far.
Row 8: Ch 1. Sc2tog around. Ss. (6 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1. Sc around, ss to first st. (6 sts)
Row 10: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc in next st) repeat around. Ss to first st. (9 sts)
Rows 11-17: Ch 1. Sc around, ss to first st. (9 sts)
Stuff rest of work.
Row 18: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc in next st) repeat around. Ss. (6 sts).
Row 19: Ch 1. Sc2tog around. Bind off.
For head leaves (make 2):
Start with dark green yarn.
Row 1: Ch 6. Turn, starting in 2nd ch from hook, Sc, HDC 2, DC, DC 6 in last st. Continue around other side of work (working into the “free loops” of the chs) DC, HDC 2, Sc, Ch 3 and Ss into first st. Bind off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
For head leaf connectors (make 2):
Start with light green yarn.
Row 1: Sc 4 in mc. Ss to first st. (4 sts)
Rows 2-4: Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (4 sts)
Bind off. Sew wide part of each leaf to a head connector, and sew both head connectors to top of head.
Note: For the arms and legs, I did not find that I needed to stuff them. However, if you wish you can stuff them gradually as you go along.
Arm Part 1 (make 2):
Start with light green yarn.
Row 1: Sc 4 in mc. Ss to first st. (4 sts)
Rows 2-15: Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (4 sts)
Bind off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Arm Part 2 (make 2):
Start with light green yarn.
Row 1: Sc 4 in mc. Ss to first st. (4 sts)
Rows 2-6: Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (4 sts)
Bind off. Sew one Arm Part 2 to each Arm Part 1 (Refer to picture). Sew end of long part of arm to body.
Legs (make 3)
Start with brown yarn.
Row 1: Sc 4 in mc. Ss to first st. (4 sts)
Rows 2-5 Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (4 sts)
Change to light green.
Rows 6-12: Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (4 sts)
Bind off. Sew legs to bottom of body. Using dark green yarn, add a mouth.
