Hi! Today I am sharing a Hedwig (Harry Potter) Crochet Pattern with you. This pattern is more of an abstract version of Hedwig, because obviously Hedwig doesn’t actually wear a Gryffindor scarf in the Harry Potter books or movies. But it’s still really cute!

Without further ado, here is the pattern (and some pictures too)!


Hedwig (Harry Potter) Crochet Pattern
Materials Needed:
- White worsted (4) weight yarn
- Red worsted (4) weight yarn
- Yellow/gold worsted (4) weight yarn
- Black worsted (4) weight yarn
- 4.00 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
- Stuffing
- 2 safety eyes
Terms Needed: : Sc = single crochet, , ss = slip stitch, ch = chain, st = stitch, mc = magic circle, sc2tog = single crochet 2 together, HDC = half double crochet, DC = double crochet
For Main Body + Head:
Start with white yarn.
Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss to first st. (6 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 2 in each st around. Ss. (12 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) repeat around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 2) repeat around. Ss. (24 sts)
Rows 5-9: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (24 sts)
Row 10: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc 2) repeat around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 11: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc) repeat around. Ss. (12 sts)
Add safety eyes and stuff work so far.
Row 12: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) repeat around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 13: Ch 1. (2 sc in st, sc 2) repeat around. Ss. (24 sts)
Rows 14-17: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (24 sts)
Row 18: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 3) repeat around. Ss. (30 sts)
Row 19: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss. (30 sts)
Row 20: Ch 1. Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc 3) repeat around. Ss. (24 sts)
Row 21: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc 2) repeat around. Ss. (18 sts)
Row 22: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc) repeat around. Ss. (12 sts)
Row 23: Ch 1. Sc2tog around. Ss. (6 sts)
Bind off, sew end closed.
For tail:
Start with white yarn.
Row 1: Ch 2. Sc in 2nd st from hook. (1 st)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc 2 in st. (2 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc 2 in each st across. (4 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc 2 in next st, sc 2, sc 2 in last st. (6 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Sc 2 in next st. Sc 4, Sc 2 in last st. (8 sts)
Row 6: Ch 1, turn. Sc 2 in next st, sc 6, sc 2 in last st. (10 sts)
Row 7: Ch 1, turn. Sc across.
Row 8: Ch 1, turn. Sc 2 in next st, sc 8, sc 2 in last st. (12 sts)
Row 9: Ch 1, turn. Sc 2, HDC 2, DC 4, HDC 2, Sc 2. Bind off. Use black yarn to add feather details.
For Owl Wings (make 2):
Start with white yarn.
Row 1: Ch 13. Turn, sc in 2nd chain and in each chain across. (12 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 10 sts. (10 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc 10. (10 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc in next 8 sts. (8 sts)
Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in next 2 sts, dc in next 5 sts, and hdc 2 in last st of row. Continuing up the top side of work, beginning with the st you just crocheted in, dc in first 4 sts, hdc in next st, ss in last st.
Bind off. Use black yarn to add feather details.
For Owl Beak:
Start with black yarn.
Row 1: Ch 3. Turn, sc in 2nd ch. Ss to last st. Bind off.
For Feet (make 2):
Start with black yarn.
Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss.
Row 2: (Ch 4, ss to next st) 3 times.
For eyebrow crease:
Attach yarn above of eyes. Sc 4 to create a crease.
For mini scarf:
Start with gold.
Row 1: Ch 3. Sc in 2nd ch from hook an each across. (2 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to red.
Rows 3-5: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to gold.
Rows 6-8: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to red.
Rows 9-11: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to gold.
Rows 12-14: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to red.
Rows 15-17: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to gold.
Row 18-20: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to red.
Rows 21-23: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to gold.
Rows 24-26: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to red.
Rows 27-29: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Change to gold.
Rows 30-32: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. (2 sts)
Bind off. Knot small pieces of yarn to act as tassels.
For Assembly: Sew beak between eyes. Sew feet to bottom of body. Sew tail to back of body. Sew wings to side of body. Sew scarf to body, if you wish.
