Dalek Crochet Pattern (Doctor Who)

Hi everyone! I’ve designed a really neat Dalek crochet pattern (the Daleks are one of the most iconic villains from Doctor Who) that I’ll be sharing in this post.

This pattern was definitely a challenge to design, as I had to experiment with a lot of different stitches in order to create the various different textures. The finished Dalek stands about 7 inches or 16 cm tall.

Also, I recommend inserting a cardboard circle at the base of the Dalek (I cut up an old box). This isn’t mandatory, but it will help the Dalek stand better because the bottom will be flatter.

If you love Doctor Who, you might also like my Tardis Crochet Pattern. Without further ado, here is the Dalek pattern:

Pattern Instructions:

Materials Needed:

  • Grey worsted (4) weight yarn
  • Black worsted (4) weight yarn
  • White worsted (4) weight yarn
  • 3.50 mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing
  • Yarn needle
  • A small piece of cardboard (optional, but recommended)

Crochet terms needed:

Sc = single crochet

Sc2tog = single crochet two together

Ss = slip stitch

Ch = chain

BLO = back loop only

FPHDC = front post half double crochet

BPHDC = back post half double crochet

Here is a tutorial for front/back post half double crochets that I found useful.

Puff Stitch = (yarn over, insert hook into stitch) x 3, you should have 7 loops on your hook, yarn over, pull through all the loops on your hook. For this pattern you will complete the puff stitch with black yarn and the last yarn over with grey. Here is a tutorial if you want a visual.

st = stitch

() = repeat

Notes:

  • Stitch count is also included in brackets at the end of each row.

Sew the grey pokey thing between rows 13 and 14, about 2 sts to the right of the eye and 4 sts to the left of the black pokey thing. Weave in all the ends. Your Dalek is finished!
