Baby Groot Crochet Pattern

Happy Wednesday! Today I’m sharing an adorable Baby Groot crochet pattern with you.

Look at him! He’s so cute, isn’t he?

This pattern is actually really easy. And who wouldn’t want their very own Baby Groot? Just a disclaimer: I take no responsibility for any mischief Baby Groot might get up to.

If you have leftover light brown and white yarn, you could make a Porg too! Anyway, here is the pattern, enjoy!

Baby Groot Crochet Pattern

Materials Needed:

  • Light Brown worsted (4) weight yarn
  • White worsted (4) weight yarn
  • Light Green worsted (4) weight yarn
  • 4.00 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Stuffing
  • 2 safety eyes

Terms Needed:

Terms Needed: Sc = single crochet, , ss = slip stitch, ch = chain, st = stitch, mc = magic circle, sc2tog = single crochet 2 together

For Baby Groot Head:

Start with light brown yarn.

Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss to first st. (6 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 2 in each st around. Ss. (12 sts)

Row 3: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) repeat around. Ss to first st. (18 sts)

Rows 4-8: Ch 1. Sc in each st around. Ss to first st. (18 sts) Bind off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

For top of head:

Start with light brown yarn.

Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss to first st. (6 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 2 in each st around. Ss. (12 sts)

Row 3: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) repeat around. Ss to first st. (18 sts) Bind off. Add safety eyes. Stuff main part of head, sew top of head to the open end. Reattach yarn to the edge you have created. (Ch 4, sc in 2nd st from hook and other 2 chs, ss in next 2 sts on top of head) repeat around (approximately 9 times). Bind off.

For Baby Groot Body:

Start with light brown yarn.

Row 1: Sc 9 in mc. Ss to first st. (9 sts)

Rows 2-6: Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (9 sts)

Row 7: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 2) Ss. (12 stss)

Row 8: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) Ss. (18 sts)

Row 9: Ch 1. Sc around, ss. (18 sts)

Row 10: Ch 1. (Sc2tog, sc) Repeat around. Ss. (12 sts)

Stuff work.

Row 11: Ch 1. Sc2tog around, ss. (6 sts) Bind off.

For Baby Groot Arms (make 2)

Start with light brown yarn.

Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss. (6 sts)

Rows 2-5: Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (6 sts)

Stuff work. Bind off, leaving a tail for sewing.

For Baby Groot Pot:

Start with white yarn.

Row 1: Sc 6 in mc. Ss to first st. (6 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1. Sc 2 in each st around. Ss. (12 sts)

Row 3: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc) Ss. (18 sts)

Row 4: Ch 1. (Sc 2 in st, sc 2) Ss. (24 sts)

Row 5: Ch 1. Sc around in front loops only. Ss. (24 sts)

Rows 6-8: Ch 1. Sc around. Ss. (24 sts)

Bind off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

For Leaves (make 4)

Start with light green yarn.

Row 1: Ch 3, Sc in 2nd ch from hook, Ss in last st. Bind off.

For assembly: Sew head to smaller part of body, and sew bowl to larger part of body. Sew arms to either side of body. Sew leaves to Baby Groot in the places of your choosing.
